August 2020 was such a memorable month for me because it was my first month of blogging.
Since June 2020, I have been wanting to create a blog. My dad suggested that I create one, and I decided to give his idea a chance when I realized how much I want to have a platform that will feature most of my written pieces.
At first, I had no plan on actually trying out his idea. Blogging, for me, is not anymore trendy and is dead. Although that was the case, I found myself trying it out because I saw only one heart reaction in the post I sent Betsin-Arts Paradise, the Facebook group of Betsin-Arts Parasites, a famous literature platform in the Philippines.
Before one can be featured in Betsin-Arts Parasites, one must first post one’s written piece in the group.
I actually do not know the criteria for being featured, but I think it has something to do with the number of Facebook reactions that you get. The only reaction I got was from my friend who was also part of the group.
That made me realize that not everyone will like your writing, but that does not mean you should stop. Instead, you must find another way to share it with other people. When I realized that, I decided to start creating my blog.
Before I dwell in September 2020, I would like to recap on the happenings I consider as the highlights of my first month of blogging.
August 1, 2020
1. I published my first blog post.
While I was scanning through blogging tips from the internet, I read about the importance of having a schedule. Because of that, I decided to post only on weekends. I was shocked to find out that the first day of August falls under a Saturday, so I really felt the need to make use of that as the day I post my first blog post that has been with me since the day before my birthday.
2. I got marked as a spam in Facebook.
While I was studying the basics of blogging, I found out that marketing is a weapon to succeed as a blogger. When I found out about it, I started joining lots of Facebook groups.
I was not actually looking deeply into the groups. Every time I see the word “blog”, as part of the group’s name, I easily send a request to join.
When I posted my first blog post titled “17 Lessons I Learned From My Parents Before I Turned 18”, I made sure to post it in every Facebook group I joined in. I was not aware that posting the same post in different Facebook groups will mark me as spam.

1. I met someone through my blog post.
After I got marked as spam on Facebook, I left the groups I was part of that do not offer blogging threads. I found out that blogging threads help gain attention to your blog that is why I started joining them.
One of the posts that I shared in the blogging threads I joined in was my blog post titled “An Apology Letter to My Eyes“. Someone saw it and decided to share a video with me. The video focused on how we criticize ourselves a lot not realizing that other people see the beauty within us.
When she shared the video with me, I cannot help but send her a message explaining what I felt when I watched it. We chatted via Facebook Messenger and she told me that my post caught her attention. She also told me that she found it really inspiring.
This is a snippet of our conversation:

1. Someone used my contact page for the first time.
While I was fondling with my phone, an email notification popped up from Kushal Gorti. It was regarding my site. I never expected that someone would actually find time to find a way to contact me.

1. I got a total of 100 subscribers.
This is what I consider as the real highlight of my first month of blogging. If I need to choose only one happening to share with you, this would be it.
The thing is, I once told my dad that he is going to buy me a hosting plan if I reach 1,000 subscribers. He easily agreed. While I was in the process of trying my hardest to accumulate 1,000 subscribers, I saw how near I was to 100. Because of that, I asked him if he would allow me to have the hosting plan with only 100 subscribers. He said yes.
When I reached 100 subscribers, I really felt glee because I wanted to have the hosting plan in my first month of blogging. Although that was the case, I told my dad that I do not want it anymore.
It really sounds absurd, but the thing is, I am an incoming freshman. My dad told me that college is where the real education lies for it will pave the path for my future. Because of that, I want to solely focus my attention on it.
I know that when I have the hosting plan, I will try my best to make use of it by following my schedule of posting even though I have classes, and also joining threads even though I have some requirements. Because of that, I have decided to not let my dad buy the hosting plan.
It was not actually a hard decision for I know what I should focus on which is my education. I do not want to have the same regrets I gained before I turned 18.

If you have not seen the blog post where I talked about this certain event, Aaliya, the blogger behind Aaliya’s Nook, commented on my first blog post to tell me that I have been nominated. I was really filled with bliss when I saw it because I never thought that someone would actually nominate me for something through my blog.

1. Someone left a comment on my post that greatly explained how i want my blog posts to be.
While I was reading my comments for the blog post titled “To the Girl Who Loves Having Her Picture Taken“, a comment really hit me. It was by Karen Chen. The comment was about the way I write my blog posts.
When I read her comment, I was in awe because it was like she pulled the idea out of my mind, and decided to use it as a description for my posts.

1. I got my first commission for being part of the affiliate program of Ellana Cosmetics.
This is somehow not related to my blog because I only did the bare minimum to advertise it through my blog, but I still want to share this because if not for my blog, I would not have been part of the affiliate program.
If you are not aware of this, I do not have any other social media account aside from Facebook. My dad talked me out of using it not only because of the toxicity enveloping it but also because he thinks it is a real distraction for the important things. Because of that, I decided to only have one social media account.
My dad once told me to trade my Facebook account for an Instagram account because blogging and Instagram work hand-in-hand, but when I found out about blogging threads, I know that Facebook can also help me a lot in my blogging journey.
Why, hello there!
Thank you for reading! I appreciate it a lot.
Lol! I still remember how ashamed I was when I was marked spam in Facebook. Never did I thought that I will go against the rules of Facebook.
By the way, pretty pretty pretty please follow my mom’s Instagram account. You would love her posts, I promise.
If you want to be updated every time I have a new post, subscribe to my email list. I will gladly notify you.
